A Bite Out Of 2024
This year was one wild ride for the Sancho team. From refreshing our brand, to building new ones to growing our network of clients, we can honestly say that the year flew by and it’s hard to pin point our biggest accomplishments. So instead – here’s a few words from each member of the team at Sancho.
Matthew
Rebranding the company was a standout project that marked a pivotal moment in our journey. We spent months carefully developing the brand, working closely as a team to define how we want clients to perceive us and what our identity truly represents. From refining our messaging to crafting visuals that resonate with our audience, every detail was meticulously considered. This project also tied seamlessly into our move to new offices, where we brought the brand to life in a functional, inspiring workspace. It was a major milestone, showcasing our growth and ambition while honing my ability to manage complex, multifaceted projects.

Working with the web team to launch several projects was a highlight for me. I managed multiple web projects, coordinating between the team and clients to ensure smooth execution and delivery. It was a new responsibility that involved a mix of skills, from project management to technical problem-solving, which kept it exciting and dynamic. I gained valuable knowledge about the technical aspects of setting up and launching websites, which has been a great learning experience.

One of the most memorable projects I worked on this year was the BOV Club campaign. Collaborating closely with the team, we developed the entire concept, including the slogan, branding, and overall visual identity. My contributions focused on creating several animations and visuals that brought the campaign to life. This project stood out because it allowed me to be highly creative while working on something tailored to a younger audience in an engaging and dynamic industry.

One of my standout experiences this year was working with Frank Zampa Jewellery. I had the opportunity to explore creativity through strategy, digital ads, and content creation. A highlight was our engagement campaign, where we showcased engagement rings in a striking end-of-summer aesthetic, with stunning visuals captured during two photoshoots. I played a key role in developing strategy and managing digital ads, testing different approaches to engage the audience. This project also allowed me to collaborate closely with my team, which was a key factor in my personal and professional growth. Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue building on these experiences and deliver even more impactful campaigns.

The project that stands out the most is Haystack (previously known as Uwejja). The client’s team envisioned a vibrant, modern brand, giving us the creative freedom to explore and craft a strong, cohesive brand identity. It was both challenging and rewarding to design the digital presence for a Digital Web Agency like Haystack. My primary contribution was designing the website’s user interface. I focused on creating a modern, sleek, and user-friendly platform while working closely with the Sancho design team. The client’s encouragement of creative freedom allowed me to experiment with innovative designs and interactions, resulting in a polished and professional product. This project stands out due to the creative freedom it offered, the collaborative environment, and the unique challenge of designing for a team specialising in digital solutions. It also provided the opportunity to test and refine animations and interactions, ensuring an engaging and memorable user experience tailored to Haystack’s audience. Through projects like this, I sharpened my UI/UX design skills, with a particular focus on using Figma as my tool of choice. I also deepened my understanding of how to bring brands to life in a digital space, creating dynamic designs and interactions that leave a lasting impression on users.

For me, having conceptualised and developed with the help of the team on the TukTuk campaign that’s currently rolling out was a big achievement. This was one of the first campaigns that I worked on here at Sancho and allowed me to show what I’m made of in terms of creativity and project management. From finding inspiration to looking for the right models to the actual shoot day, and then finally seeing the end result (which I think came out even better than I could’ve imagined), I can easily say this project was the highlight of the year for me. Looking back on the year, I’ve grown on a professional level, more specifically in relation to digital marketing campaign strategising. Looking forward to what 2025 has in store for me!

Designing the airport’s Sustainability Report was a standout project for me. I thoroughly enjoyed working on the editorial design and layout, ensuring it was visually engaging and aligned with the brand. This project allowed me to merge creativity with structured design, which is a balance I find very rewarding. It helped me gain valuable experience in editorial design, an area I’m passionate about and eager to focus on further.

The project that truly stood out for me was content creation for Amigos. I thoroughly enjoyed bringing ideas to life through fun, engaging content that captured the brand’s essence. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with the audience in a way that felt authentic and lively. Constantly working on new content for Amigos kept the energy high, and collaborating with the team made it especially rewarding. In general, I love the chance to constantly learn something new, which makes every project even more fulfilling. It remains one of my favourites. Another memorable project that I worked on was the Neriku Christmas Campaign, which was one of the first projects, I worked on here at Sancho.

Developing a fully interactive website for Rise Fitness with smooth animation while also incorporating block-based development which enables future scalability, allowed me to push creative boundaries and utilise a new development method. This new method of development also helped in improving my overall coding workflow. This year was all about growth — mastering block development for WordPress, honing advanced WooCommerce customisations, and exploring new tools like GSAP for animations. I was also exposed to complex APIs and templating systems.
